The Environment Authority continues to coordinate closely with relevant government bodies to monitor maritime navigation safety and assess potential environmental impacts in regional waters.

An Integrated Monitoring System

Through an integrated monitoring system that combines field inspections, technical surveillance tools, and the analysis of satellite imagery and data, the Authority continuously evaluates environmental conditions across the marine area.

To ensure complete readiness for any situation, the Authority has raised its level of preparedness and implemented the necessary precautionary measures in alignment with national environmental emergency response plans.

No Escalation Required

Authorities confirmed that no indicators have been detected so far that would require an escalation of the environmental response level. Continuous monitoring and assessment remain active, and any future updates will be communicated officially through formal channels.

Guidance to the Public

The Environment Authority urged the public to rely exclusively on official sources for accurate information and to avoid circulating unverified news reports — a reminder of the role accurate communication plays during periods of heightened regional attention.

Marine Monitoring Capability

The response draws on a monitoring capability that combines on-the-water inspection with remote sensing, allowing the Authority to assess conditions across a wide marine area and detect changes early.

That capability supports Oman’s wider marine environmental work, from oil spill preparedness and coastal water quality monitoring to the protection of marine reserves and fisheries.

Ocean and coastal resilience, marine monitoring and environmental emergency preparedness are among the areas addressed at Oman Climate Week 2026, taking place 14–16 September at the Oman Convention & Exhibition Centre in Muscat.
